TOMODACHI CAMP
Where friendship meets passion

We're very grateful to celebrate our camp's 20th anniversary, Tomodachi Dojo's 15th anniversary and international Kyokushin Karate friendship together with you in Hard (Austria). 

For this special occasion we have invited shihan Norichika Tsukamoto, shihan Koen Spitaels and sensei Asuka Taniguchi. To enjoy their presence more, we extend the camp to four days with the option of one extra night on Wednesday if you travel longer. 

Many senseis and shihans who have been instructing at our events in the last 20 years have already confirmed their attendance.

The minimum age for participation is 16.

The camp takes place in a wonderful holiday area surrounded by mountains directly at the Lake of Constance. The hostel offers the perfect infrastructure: newly renovated, modern and bright rooms accommodating 2-6 persons (shower and toilet in almost all rooms). Restaurant and bar are directly attached.

Apart from the varied training sessions we will include a sportive walk up mount Pfänder. After almost two hours you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the lake and the Alps. 

We also plan to create time frames to encourage open discussions about karate relevant topics. It is our goal to bring people together and to enhance communication between dojos and countries.

Norichika Tsukamoto
Being two times world champion in the open weight category and coach of the Japanese Shinkyokushinkai national team he has huge expertise in kumite. He revolutionised fighting in the 90's and 00's. On top of that he is a warm and friendly person, open-minded and always in for some jokes. He has been our friend since 1995 before his first world title, so a real Tomodachi (friend) to celebrate our camp's 20th anniversary.

Koen Spitaels
Shihan has been our mentor and friend for almost 30 years. He already joined our camp from the very first beginning and he has hugely contributed to the development of Tomodachi Camp. His knowledge as an international fighter, experience as an inspiring instructor and caring attitude as a human being make him a "one in a million" shihan.

Asuka Taniguchi
We first met sensei Asuka in 2016. In 2018 some of Tomodachi Dojo members also had the pleasure to train in her dojo in Tokyo. Sensei Asuka has been the winner in both kumite and kata several times at the Japanese Dream Festival. She represented Japan in the first Shinkyokushinkai Kata World Tournament 2023. She is an ever-smiling and motivating allround instructor and karateka.

TRAINING 
In order to benefit as much as possible, in some sessions you can choose between kata or kumite as well as higher or lower intensity groups. To reset and be aware of the beginner's mind "shoshin" we will train one day all wearing a white belt.

The friendship between participants is not only celebrated wearing a dogi, but also wearing traditional dirndl and leather trousers at the famous sayonara party. If you don't have this outfit, be creative or join as you like.

!!! THE YOUTH HOSTEL IS FULLY BOOKED!!!
You can still register for the camp, however without overnight stay in the youth hostel. Only the extra night on Wednesday is still available. For organizational and financial reasons, we give priority to participants who take part in the entire camp. If there are still places available in April, shorter participation is possible.

Be aware that finding accomodation in August at short notice can be a challenge as this time of the year a lot of cultural events take place. Apart from Airbnb or hotel there are some nice camping sites in the area (no need to book beforehand @Seecamping in Bregenz at the lakeside).
